Tips for choosing a new bed.

May 2nd, 2012

A bed is probably one of the most important pieces of furniture that we will buy. When looking for a new bed there are many things to consider to ensure we have a good nights sleep.

Price:

We spend about a third of our lives in bed so if possible choose the best bed affordable. If you and a partner are buying the bed try it out and make sure it has a solid base. It is recommended that we change our beds every 10 years at least.

Size:

The size of a bed is of great importance.  A larger bed is far better and gives more comfort. Being disturbed by a partner is a common complaint so with a larger bed you are less likely to disturb each other, giving you a better nights sleep. Also consider the space when getting in and out of bed.

Storage:

Many beds offer under bed storage which is ideal if you have limited space but there are many things to consider. Although great for smaller rooms make sure you have space to open bedroom cupboards, doors etc.  Also make sure you have room to pull out the drawers.

Other factors to ensure a good nights sleep are a good quality mattress and a well aired bedroom.

Sleep well!

Choosing a Mattress.

February 29th, 2012

Choosing a mattress is essential for a good nights sleep. Everyone has different sleep needs but the majority of people need at least 7-9 hours quality sleep per night. A noisy enviroment, the room temperature or an uncomfortable mattress can all contribute to a poor nights sleep. Lack of sleep can cause memory loss, irritability and can increase stress levels.

The two important things to consider when looking for a new mattress are comfort and support.

Foam Mattresses

These are often inexpensive but offer little support and shouldnt be slept on regularly. They are good for use in a guest room.

Sprung

Support comes from the springs inside the mattress and the comfort comes from the padding. Both should mould to your body and support your spine.

Foam Topper (Part Sprung Part Foam)

These are part sprung and part foam, giving you the support from the springs but at the same time giving you the comfort of the foam. Our Supreme Vasco Memory Foam and Pocket Sprung Mattress is fantastic for supporting key areas such as the Neck, Back and Shoulders. All which lead to a great nights sleep.

A good Mattress is an important investment for your health and a great nights sleep, leaving you waking up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day ahead.

The Difference Between Oak and Pine Furniture

January 25th, 2012

Oak and Pine are often used to make furniture.

Pine tends to be a soft wood but is fairly hard wearing and is much lighter in weight than pine is. Pine grows at a faster rate than Oak which is why it is cheaper. Pine is available in its natural white-wood but can also be waxed or stained in a variety of colours.

Oak tends to take longer to grow and the tree needs more tending to which is why it is more expensive than Pine. Oak is usually stained to enhance the natural grain in it and been a hardwood it is stronger and will last many years if  looked after properly.
